Join in this grass roots movement of students, artists, educators, and mentors who will create awareness and momentum for the CICE interactive educational symposium (to take place in Fall 2010) focusing on the shift of Muskoka's economy to a creative economy.

Voice your thoughts, concerns, issues for planning for the future of your buiness.

Surveys will be distributed to assess participant needs, and gauge interest in the program.

Program Kick-off Roundtable Discussion Meeting

A meeting of all stakeholders; educators, student representation, business leaders, economic development officers and chamber leaders, community arts groups - to begin the discussion on preparing for and building the creative economy in Muskoka.

CICE Goals

  • to begin a grass roots community movement turning creative knowledge into action
  • building momentum for support of creative skills development in support of Muskoka’s creative economy
  • to identify and assess relevant individual issues, challenges, concerns
  • to address the issues, concerns and needs of all stakeholders in order to deliver effective mentorship programs, workshops, lectures etc…

Programs for Muskoka Secondary School Students

  • mentoring programs
  • creativity workshops
  • special projects for classes
CICE Needs Business Professionals:

to serve as mentors, and identify opportunities for students to learn about creative and innovative thinking process that are being used in current work environments. (Time frame January - May 2010)

Paired students and mentors will be introduced at an introductory meeting in January 2010, where they will be given mentoring relationship guidelines, and tips on goal setting for maximizing the benefits of the program. Introductions, discussion of expectations, outline of guidelines & how to get the most out of your mentoring relationship

It will be up to the Participants to remain in contact with each other independently - however they will be encouraged to continue networking & ongoing online communication with all program participants, and also encouraged to attend relevant workshops

Participants will receive email correspondence notifications for program updates, and wil be able to access a calendar program of events on the Arts Directory of Muskoka.

The session will wrap in late May – by having a meeting showcasing/discussing of program results with all participants. Where possible the program workshops will be aligned with the Innovation Muskoka mentorship programming.

Opportunities Exist for Muskoka Businesses to:
  • build and retain working relationships with talented young creative thinkers who are focusing on preparedness for a transitioning economy
  • engage in a progressive educational program which values creative thinking and encourages innovation in business
  • participate in building Muskoka's creative economy and contribute to raising awareness for Muskoka as a Designated Arts Community
  • to participate in an exciting symposium of progressive and innovative thinkers
  • build community partnerships that will ultimately strengthen Muskoka's economy and add to its quality of life
