The Third Annual Edge of the Woods Theatre Festival is now accepting proposals.

Calling all theatre companies and performers!

Edge of the Woods Theatre is now accepting proposals for its 3^rd annual

theatre festival taking place from July 5-11, 2010.  We are seeking original theatre pieces

between 5 and 20 minutes long to perform in different venues across the Muskoka/Parry

Sound region.    Artists and companies will receive an honorarium for their work.

The Edge of the Woods Theatre Festival is an annual week-long travelling arts event celebrating theatre, food and public space in the Muskoka/Parry Sound Region of Ontario. The nightly event begins with delicious affordable food served on site and free arts activities for youth. Following this, audiences are treated to an evening of pay-what-you-can outdoor theatre by local, national and international artists.

The festival is an ideal venue for artist-run companies or independent artists creating original, ambitious outdoor theatre. We are interested in supporting new site-specific pieces created for the festival itself, as well as those that are adapted and re-worked for this context. In past years we have presented work which draws from various forms including physical theatre, circus, dance, puppetry, choral singing, live music, clown, street theatre and storytelling.

Applications may correspond to one of the following categories:

1. A 15-20 minute piece which plays near the beginning of the evening to an all ages audience.
2. A 30-40 minute piece - a narrative anchor to the evening. Here we invite thematically complex and thoughtful work geared towards adults.
3. A 5-10 minute piece which closes the evening.
